‘The end of sugary drinks?’ – Ronaldo’s Coca-Cola snub slashes billions off company’s market value
Dentists are praising Christiano Ronaldo after he moved two Coca Cola bottles during a press conference and encouraged viewers to drink water. That move alone caused Coca Cola shares to plummet 1.6%, or $4 billion. UEFA has now warned players they could receive a fine for any similar action. But rather than fine players, this is an opportunity for UEFA to listen. Instead of accepting sponsorship for sugary drinks, why not set an example and start accepting sponsorship from more healthy snacks and food?
Scotland moving towards free NHS dental care for adults 25 and under
Scotland is moving closer to its pledge for free NHS dental care for adults 25 and under. In April, the SNP vowed to abolish all NHS dental care charges if they were re-elected to parliament. And after a successful election last month, it is now making moves to fulfil this pledge. It’s an ambitious and positive step. But we wait to see what’s included under the umbrella of free NHS dental care.
One in five adults view brushing teeth as more important daily task than exercise
More than a fifth (21%) of adults say brushing their teeth is more important than exercise. Just over two thirds (68%) couldn’t go a day without brushing their teeth. These numbers seem a little low. Although it’s good to see toothbrushing as the most valued day-to-day task, a third of respondents still feel they could skip a whole day of brushing their teeth. Reassuringly, just 12% however believe, however, that their oral health has declined through the COVID pandemic.
