Almost every owner and manager faces the same team problems in 2023:  Recruitment  Retention  Remuneration  Risk of poaching by competitors  Every Boss has to protect themself from these 4 R’s by creating an environment that people don’t want to leave, even when the going gets tough.  Too many Bosses are beating a retreat, having lost energy and direction. They tolerate poor attitude and performance, powerless to address toxic culture creep.  In this talk, Mark Topley will bring his 20+ years of leadership experience in Dentistry to help delegates successfully navigate the minefield of being a dental Boss in 2023. The new world we live in has significantly greater challenges for Bosses than before, and for anyone who wants to be a Great Boss, retain a great team, and experience the wellbeing, reward and success that come with it, a new approach is needed.

Our understanding of disease aetiology and the way in which we treat it has changed dramatically in recent years. Conclusive findings that it is in fact plaque biofilm and the hosts response to it which triggers the inflammatory response resulting in the breakdown of periodontal support, have seen us move away from more invasive treatments to those which seek to preserve tooth tissue and address the issue of biofilm disruption and pocket decontamination foremost. As our understanding and consequently our approach evolves, so too should the equipment we use. Guided Biofilm Therapy is a protocol designed with minimal intervention and biofilm management at its epicentre. The use of AIRFLOW, PERIOFLOW and NO PAIN PIEZON is revolutionising the treatment of every category of patient from dental phobia to periodontal disease to complex implant cases. A contemporary approach to treatment and patient management.

Guide Bone Regeneration (GBR) techniques is one of the most common technique that we use in implant dentistry. The correct diagnosis, the selection of the right materials and different surgical techniques are only few of the factors that we need to consider when we would like to reconstruct and regenerate the volumes of lost tissues. GBR technology can be used to repair alveolar ridges with larger bone defects and can obtain excellent and stable bone augmentation results. This introduction lecture focuses on patient selection, diagnosis, and treatment planning for grafting procedures.

This presentation aims to help the dental team understand the journey of a patient living with head and neck cancer and how mouth care is pivotal for their ongoing health.   1 person every 3 HOURS is lost to mouth cancer. 8864 people in the UK were diagnosed with mouth cancer last year, and 3034 people in the UK lost their life to mouth cancer. As the statistics of diagnosis are increasing, we shall meet and care for these patients more frequently. A collaboration of medical professionals and dental professionals working with a holistic team approach will enable the patient to receive the best comprehensive care.

This educational event will offer participants just that, an opportunity to update their knowledge and refine their skills. The theory session held online will cover oral health assessments, diagnosing and treatment planning within scope. Aim

To provide participants with the opportunity to update their knowledge and refine their skills so that they are able to provide appropriate oral health care for patients within their full scope of practice, in line with the General Dental Council Scope of Practice document.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session the participants will be able to:
