Whatever stage you find yourself at – be it wanting to get away from the stresses of business ownership, or deciding to give it all up and head for pastures new – it makes sound business sense to plan an exit strategy at the earliest stage possible.  The value of your practice is likely to form a significant part of your total assets and ultimately fund your future chosen lifestyle. So just as many of us make improvements to our homes to increase the value when the time comes to sell, it makes sense to maximize the value of your business to increase the profit from the sale of your practice.  Mediestates’ extensive and comprehensive understanding of the dental market and how it relates to your own personal circumstances allows us to help you to plan and execute your exit plan when the time is right.

Ted Johnston
Practice Sales- What Matters & What Doesn’t
09:00- 16:00 | Add to Calendar
The presentation is aimed to highlight what key costs matter within a valuation and how costs impact a valuation      Since starting with Dental Elite in 2018 with the focus of growing the Scottish market, Ted Johnston has seen changing attitudes to Scottish Dental Practice Valuations, as buyers and sellers move away from the percentage of turnover metric and instead embrace EBITDA models, allowing for greater goodwill values than previously achieved.   Ted says “While business valuations have been calculated on EBITDA models for many years, this was slow to be adopted in the Dental Practice market and Scotland has largely continued to look at valuations on the basis of percentage of turnover. In many cases this has meant that profitable Scottish practices have not secured their full value in the past. One part of the job I love is the chance to work with Principals to understand their valuations and how small changes will increase EBITDA and practice value.”

More and more new IO scanners are entering the market either from existing suppliers, or via new entrants. All IO scanners are good, but they also have their unique features and benefits, and this must be aligned to the clinicians needs. David will explain ‘Catch 22’ which is his established process which helps a dentist choose the right IO scanner. David will also be explaining why he believes a subscription model is a viable and flexible way of getting onboard with disruptive technology.

How to add an extra £1k per week to your turnover from facial aesthetics
09:00- 16:00 | Add to Calendar
Dr Harry Singh’s story is a reflection of how many dentists are looking to introduce facial aesthetics into their dental business. He started offering facial aesthetics 20 years ago in his very successful dental business. However he became disappointed and loss his passion for aesthetics as he dint know how to market and sell these aesthetics services to his patients. He tried every marketing strategy and it wasn’t working. He struggled for many years and he eventually gave up. He didn’t renewal his aesthetic indemnity and went back to Dentistry.   Then one day, he decided to educate himself on marketing, sales and human psychology and his aesthetics business sky rocketed. In fact it went so well, he decided to quit Dentistry and solely focus on facial aesthetics, which he has been doing for the last 10 years. He realised that the one thing that stopped him was the incorrect ‘marketing mix’ which was different to the one he was using to attract dental patients.   This session is truly focused to help dentists to grow their facial aesthetics business. He is now on a mission to help empower over 10,000 dentists to grow their facial aesthetics business.

HIGH TECH : HIGH RISK

Scientific and technological advances in dentistry have made possible a wide range of new treatment options. But some of these exciting new opportunities have also created new risks and threats, leading in many parts of the world to more complaints and litigation. Meanwhile, new ways are created to eliminate or manage “old” risks more effectively. The desirability of learning and developing new technical and clinical skills is beyond dispute. But this presentation will show that learning how to use them in ways that will control risks rather than adding to them, is the key to successful and trouble-free practice.
