Winning Dental Laboratory of the Year

Ceramic Designs Laboratory won Dental Laboratory of the Year at this year’s Dentistry Awards. We spoke to Jon Dolding, clinical director and owner of the winning lab, about why he entered and what the award means to him and his team.

Why did you enter the awards?

The awards are really important to us as a team and as a business. As a team, it’s a huge boost to have all of our hard work recognised and celebrated. And as a business, it’s an important independent accolade.

A kitemark of quality from an industry trusted brand.

Unfortunately we couldn’t make it this year, but TIC, our partners, were there on our behalf and they had a fab night.

We normally attend and it’s a brilliant night out. The opportunity to get dressed up, meet colleagues and have a few drinks. We call it the Toothies… the Oscars of our industry!

How did it feel to win Dental Laboratory of the Year?

Amazing! We were on tenterhooks at the end of the phone waiting for the announcement and we had a glass of champagne at home when we found the news.

The atmosphere in the lab the following day was amazing. It’s a great boost as we enter the busiest time of the year for us. Everyone wants beautiful teeth for Christmas!

What does the award mean to your team?

It means the world. It acts as external, independent validation that we are the best!

It’s also great for morale and recruitment.

Will you be entering again next year?

Obviously!

What’s next for your laboratory? Any plans/aspirations for the future?

Yes! We have a two fold strategy. One is growth and two is innovation to digital.

We are on a huge recruitment campaign. We have an incredible team and we’re always looking for new talent. The recognition of winning this award is a great boost for recruitment.

Secondly, one of our core focuses is innovation. We invest heavily in developing new digital procedures and techniques, using new materials to improve our outcomes for patients.

We need ambitious, curious innovative technicians who want to come on this journey with us.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

A shout out to Dentaid and the pro bono work we do. We love working with them and are looking forward to doing more – especially developing digital procedures for mobile dentistry! Exciting times.
