Philips introduces a cordless Power Flosser

Philips has released a new, cordless Power Flosser, which removes 99.9% of plaque. The interproximal cleaning device provides a thorough and superior clean.

Philips’ new powered cordless Power Flosser is designed to help patients achieve an effective, consistent and convenient flossing routine. In addition, it is designed so improve their gum health in just two weeks.

The device builds on the company’s air and micro-droplet device know-how, with the introduction of patented ‘burst’ function technology to remove 99.9% of plaque in treated areas. This will achieve an effortlessly thorough and superior clean.

Unique nozzle

Meanwhile, its unique cross-shaped nozzle creates four wide streams of water. As a result, this will ensure that it cleans eight times more area than a competitor irrigation appliance with its classic single-stream configuration. This ensures that it is less technique sensitive and can clean the whole mouth in 60-90 seconds.

It is this patented ‘X-shaped’ Quadstream functionality which achieves maximum cleaning coverage. It produces a plaque-sheering cleaning action and combines it with a centre jet for superior clean interproximally and along the gumline.

In addition, the designers have considered its ergonomics and created an extra-large water reservoir. This means that the recommended 60-second clean can be carried out without refilling the device.

The cordless Power Flosser has 18 different water stream options including three intensities, two modes and two nozzle types. This allows for hyper-personalisation.

In addition, newly developed pulse wave technology guides users from tooth to tooth. As a result, this ensures patients who struggle with regular flossing won’t miss a spot and clean the whole mouth effectively. This is because brief pauses in the cleaning pulsations prompt them to glide the nozzle to the next interproximal space.

Meanwhile, the 360 degree nozzle rotation ensures frustrated flossers are able to access hard-to-reach areas. These areas may have been off limits to those with manual dexterity issues.

The nozzles are recyclable with Terracycle through the Philips dental care recycling programme.

Gentle but effective

Dr Safa Al Naher who had the opportunity to trial the device in advance of the launch commented: ‘I love the new Philips Power Flosser.’

‘It is much easier to use than other irrigation devices I have used. The start up is super simple, it comes ready charged and ready to go.

‘It comes with two nozzle tips and I started trialling it with the rubber one, which was very comfortable to use.

‘You don’t feel as though you are doing any damage to your gums in any way or that you have to press at all.

‘There’s a knack to using an interdental cleaning device and you have to close your lips around it and then spit out the water periodically every few teeth, but I found the Power Flosser very easy to use.

‘It is definitely not as messy as other irrigation devices I have used and afterwards I definitely felt a nice clean feeling. All of the front and back surfaces of my teeth felt very clean and were plaque free.

‘I am really happy with the Power Flosser and think it is excellent – it is very gentle but effective, which is what we want.’

Whilst hygienist Anna Middleton added: ‘I am extremely impressed with the new Philips Power Flosser.

‘It is sleek, easy to use and you can really notice the difference in how clean your mouth feels after using it.

‘This is the perfect oral hygiene adjunct to help support patients’ oral health, especially for those with crown, bridges, implants, orthodontics and those with sight and manual dexterity difficulties.’
