Dentist releases cookbook to raise money for charity

A dentist has put together a cookbook inspired by her family history to raise money for an oral health charity.

Dr Linda Greenwall has released Food Memories – The Cookbook, centred around almost 300 recipes, including breakfasts, salads and snacks.

Many were inspired by her extended family members who originated from South Africa and fled Eastern Europe to escape persecution.

Despite the hardship they faced, their passion for sharing delicious food with loved ones helped them through such difficult times.

From broccoli salads to perogen meat pies, the cookbook also includes a wide selection of  healthy food dishes that are ideal for maintaining optimal health.

All profits from the book will go to the oral health charity the Dental Wellness Trust.

Inspiration behind the book

The inspiration for the cookbook came during the COVID-19 lockdown in London during March 2020. Despite its challenges, Dr Greenwall spent time with her children and husband preparing as many as 21 meals a day.

The family soon realised they needed to expand their recipes. As a result, Dr Greenwall decided they should compile a cookbook using their most cherished traditional family recipes, with occasional new twists on traditional Jewish foods.

The book also includes a dedicated chapter to becoming sugar free.

Food Memories – The Cookbook by Dr Linda Greenwall is available via dentalwellnesstrust.org, priced £48.

All profit from the book will go towards funding the vital work of the Dental Wellness Trust charity, both in the UK and internationally.
