We speak to Chinwe Akuonu about her strangest experience in dentistry and her hopes to inspire students from minority backgrounds.

Chinwe Akuonu

Chinwe is a dentist in her foundation training, currently working in south London. Her passion for dentistry is immense, as she also has a background of eight years as a dental hygienist.

Chinwe recently graduated from KCL and believes that prevention is the key to healthy teeth; this is the reason she enjoys creating educational dental videos. She is active in the dental world and participates in various dental projects.

Her keen and caring attitude led to her winning multiple awards at dental school, where she was also part of the student council and a strong representative of the Women in Dentistry Association.

She is a proud member of the ACDA UK (African Caribbean Dental Association) and keeps raising awareness in terms of the need for diversity within the dental professional. Chinwe has spoken at multiple webinars and dental shows.

She is passionate about mentoring young people (in and out of dentistry), especially those from minority backgrounds. She is excited for the future and looks forward to building up her skills and providing patients with the wonderful, healthy and beautiful smiles they deserve.
