During his webinar, Ian will look at the two main peri-implant diseases and how we can spot them in general practice.

He will look at implant monitoring and implant maintenance. As well as covering why we need to focus our efforts on prevention of these diseases and techniques at a patient and practice level.

Aims and objectives:

  1. Understand the two main peri-implant diseases
  2. The effective monitoring of dental implants
  3. Also understand how we can maximise our chances of preventing peri-implant diseases.

Following this webinar attendees will:

  • Be able to describe the two main peri-implant diseases
  • Be confident to monitor dental implants in their practice
  • Advise patients on prevention of peri-implant disease and the reasons why it is so important.

Ian Dunn

Ian qualified from Leeds in 1998 and went into general practice in the north west. In 2001 he was awarded Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice.

In 2002 he joined the teaching staff at Liverpool Dental Hospital in the periodontology department. Here he became the undergraduate teaching lead in periodontics. As well as a senior clinical teacher in periodontics. A role he held for five years until leaving that position in 2018.

In 2010 he then completed his MSc in periodontology and in 2013 he was admitted to the GDC specialist list in periodontics.

Ian is the perio lead for the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. He also runs its short course in periodontics and leads the perio components of the FGDP restorative diploma.

Ian spends three days a week in private practice in the north west of England where he takes referrals for all aspects of periodontology.

He is the British Society of Periodontology regional representative for Merseyside and Cheshire. And he serves on its council as commercial liaison officer.

In 2014 he was also elected to the BSP Faculty.
