Dentistry Visits – Philips new headquarters

We kick start Dentistry Visits with a walk around the hugely impressive and eco friendly Philips head office.

Megan Fairhall walks us around Philips’ brand new headquarters based in Farnborough.

The office includes sustainability measures such as moss walls throughout the building and Terracycle boxes encouraging staff to recycle their oral health products.

Philips will also benefit from solar panels to offset energy usage, electric vehicle charging points and natural habitats, both around the office and in shared outside spaces.

‘This brand new Philips head office brings all parts of the healthcare technology business under one roof for the first time,’ Melanie Pomphrett, professional relations manager at Philips, said.

‘The building started with sustainability at the forefront. It has won an award for the sustainability measures put in place.

‘The dental professional team are also looking forward to hosting many courses here in the near future.’

As we move upstairs it’s clear to see the modern office is built to give a feeling of space and freedom.

Glass walls throughout make the building feel light and airy. And the open-plan hot desks also mean staff and visiting professionals can choose to work somewhere quiet or in large groups.

The communal areas encourage people to enjoy time at the office. A table tennis table provides an opportunity for colleagues to take their mind off work. And the hands-free kitchen, including a hands-free coffee machine, also ensures everything is clean and hygienic for all users.

‘The office is actually colour coded,’ Megan Fairhall points out. ‘Those colours help to denote different moods, whether it’s focus or reflection.

‘We have some lovely rooms for our meetings. We hold courses here for dentists and dental professionals as well and the rooms are all different colours too.’
