In our tenth episode, we chat to Hassan Asad about Baghdad, starting his dental career – and what it was like getting a Blue Peter badge.
Also known as the Bearded Tooth Fairy, Hassan discusses his memories from when he left Baghdad, Iraq, as a boy and began his journey over to the UK.
We also touch on dentistry as a student, obstacles he has had to face – and overcome – and what advice he would give new graduates as they begin their dental careers.
When asked about advice for dental students, he says: ‘Ask why – don’t just jump into things.
‘That’s what helped me. At times I was probably a bit of a pest – I’d always put my hands up at the end of lectures. But I think that’s important. You don’t want to be that individual who sits there, unsure, and doesn’t want to seek help.’
