Coronavirus – the view from Spain

Anthony Gedge give us his update from Spain on how the coronavirus is impacting him and dental practices in Spain.

Spain is currently on lockdown, with people consequently only allowed out to go shopping or go to work.

Anthony has therefore taken the time to update Dentistry.co.uk on the current position from Spain and give his thoughts on how dental practices should deal with the coronavirus.

A time for leadership

The American Dental Association recently said dental practices will only undertake emergency treatments. Might this extend to the UK?

Anthony says only 28% of people working in a dental practice feel engaged. What is happening now will reduce the engagement and motivation of the team because the coronavirus is creating worry.

Anthony believes it is practice principal’s job as a leader to increase the motivation in the practice. Now is therefore the time to work on the team and your workplace culture to give hope.

‘This is a time of leadership,’ Anthony says. ‘This is a time to motivate your people and to also increase the happiness in your work place. Let’s not have our people unengaged anymore, we will get through this.’
