We hear from Amber Ojak as she tries Fluorodose from Centrix and lets us know what her patients thought of the product.
Did you know of Centrix and/or used a Centrix product before? Which products have you used? Are you still using them?
No I had never heard of Centrix before, so I was quite excited to hear about another fluoride varnish that I could use in practice.
I’m still using the varnish now, I think it’s a fabulous product!
Fluoride products can be used after a professional teeth cleaning or for prevention purposes on a regular basis (for example every three month for caries prevention). Which material do you use?
I have always used Duraphat varnish for my patients if required.
For which kind of procedure?
The varnish application is for prevention more than anything.
A lot of my patients get quite a lot of sensitivity so the varnish has been applied to help them manage this.
And how often, do you perform this treatment a day?
A few times a day, it depends on how many patients require it or if the dentist has prescribed me to apply it after their treatment.
Are you using a single dose product or one in a jar/tube? What are the advantages of the packaging of the product you use?
The varnish comes in a tube and it’s very easy to use. It allows no cross contamination and the right amount of fluoride to be applied.
Fluorodose is packed in a Lolli tray with a brush. After opening the package and mixing the varnish with the brush you can use it right away. Usually it takes less then a minute to apply it. Does Fluorodose save you time?
It definitely saves time. It’s a great convenience having the brush in the packaging too so you don’t need to get anything extra to apply it.
How did your patients like the five different flavours of Fluorodose? Which one do you like personally the most?
They loved the intensity of the flavours and people especially liked the melon.
I was a big fan of the caramel flavour– it leaves a good after taste once used.
Would you recommend Fluorodose to other dental professionals?
I would recommend it as the different flavours are very appealing to patients and it’s another way to engage with them too by talking about the varnish flavours on offer.
What did you like about Fluorodose?
I like the ease of use and the flavours you can give patients. Patients seem to be more receptive of the after taste too.
