The FDI World Dental Federation have recently launched a toolkit for sustainable dentistry.
It is aimed at aiding dental practices to understand what actions they can take to ensure their work is environmentally sustainable as possible.
The FDI hopes their new toolkit will help dental teams be able to implement changes for greener dental practices.
It also helps to track progress to reduce the impact the dental profession has on the environment.
Raising awareness
Together with the toolkit, the FDI have released a consensus statement on environmentally sustainable oral healthcare.
It is fantastic to see the work that has gone into this. I really believe this will be a solid starting line for practices finding it difficult to get started implementing greener procedures into their work place.
The sustainability in dentistry toolkit will provide dental professionals with practical guidance to improve sustainability in their practice.
It will also give them the opportunity to win recognition awards or become a sustainability champion. The awards show the commitment taken towards a greener practice that staff and patients will be proud of.
The awareness the FDI brings with this is huge, and I believe will only expand the professions education on sustainability.
