School clinical researcher wins prestigious Royal College of Surgeons prize

Helen Rodgers from Sheffield University’s school of clinical dentistry has been awarded the Lady Estelle Wolfson Emerging Leaders Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England

Helen Rogers, National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) doctoral research fellow and honorary specialty registrar in paediatric dentistry has won the prestigious honour which is awarded to female consultants and senior trainee and provides recipients with the opportunity to gain mentorship and leadership experience through the College.

Helen is in the final year of her NIHR funded doctoral research fellowship at the University of Sheffield and her research is focusing on the economic evaluation of oral health interventions and the use of utilities in paediatric dental research.

Her research interests lie within the field of child oral health, with a particular focus on dental caries.

Helen is passionate about the involvement of children as active participants in research and adopt a child-centred design at every opportunity.
