The benefits of using digital techniques in restorative dentistry
In the presentation, delegates will be shown how digital workflows can be used in restorative dentistry.
The benefits of digital approaches to communication, both with patients and the rest of the dental team, will be demonstrated, as well as how these facilitate collaboration.
Examples will be given of how digital tools can be used for the planning and delivery of complex restorative dentistry and how these improve the predictability and efficiency of treatment. The presentation will include practical tips on scanning techniques including how to manage soft tissues to ensure optimal digital impressions can be taken.
Some of the features to look for when choosing an intra-oral scanner for restorative dentistry will be discussed. As well as the benefits of digital scanning, some of the limits will be considered including strategies of how to manage these limits.

Speaker: Eoin O’Sullivan
Dr Eoin O’Sullivan is a General Dental Council registered Specialist in Prosthodontics. He graduated with honours from Trinity College Dublin and the Dublin Dental Hospital. After completing his Specialist Training at the Eastman Dental Institute in London he was invited to become a lecturer. For 15 years he was a Clinical Lecturer in the Prosthodontic Department. Eoin is a member of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2011 he was elected to become a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) . He is currently the Education Delegate of the UK and Ireland Section of the ITI and is also the Program Director of the ITI Foundation in Implant Dentistry Course. Eoin is a Partner at the Number 8 Partnership, a Specialist Referral Practice in London. He has a special interest in Digital Dentistry and has been using iTero scanners in his practice for over 10 years.
