Oral Health Summit – an approach to prevention and risk management of dental caries

 

The first ever Oral Health Summit is approaching – sign up to catch a lecture on approaching prevention and risk managing dental caries. 

FMC will welcome world-leading experts to deliver lectures on the best approaches around on Friday 28 May 2021.

The virtual Oral Health Summit will be hosted in conjunction with charity partner, the Oral Health Foundation and National Smile Month.

Completely free to attend, it will provide delegates with the current learnings and approaches in line with the British Society of Periodontology’s latest guidelines.

Delegates can also gain 6+ hours of enhanced CPD throughout the day.

Concepts and approaches

One of the lectures is titled ‘Minimally invasive dentistry – an approach to prevention and risk management of dental caries’.

The ECPD webinar will provide an overview of the concept of minimally invasive dentistry (MID). This includes the key aspects and principles relating to caries risk factors. As well as their relationship to MID approaches and caries management.

Learning objectives include:

  • Be able to define the concept of ‘minimally invasive dentistry (MID)’
  • Understand the key aspects and principles of MID
  • Understand the risk factors for dental caries and their relationship to caries management
  • Gain awareness in minimally invasive approaches for the management of dental caries.

Additionally, Colgate will also deliver a second webinar on their sustainability strategy.

Speakers include Ann Tracy, Colgate-Palmolive’s chief sustainability officer, and Anne Bedarf, Colgate-Palmolive’s global packaging sustainability manager.

The webinar hopes to familiarise delegates with the development, meaning and actions surrounding its new 2025 Sustainability and Social Impact Strategy.

Speakers

Dr Roshni Karia

Roshni Karia is a general dental practitioner, as well as a part-time clinical tutor at the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, King’s College London.

She is also a board member and the former vice dean of the Faculty of General Dental Practice UK.

Dr Aylin Baysan

Aylin Basin is a reader in cariology at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

Dr Emanuele Cotroneo

Emanuele Cotroneo is UK scientific affairs manager at Colgate.

He holds a degree in molecular biology and genetics from the University of Rome (2005), and a Phd in oral biology (2009) from the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at King’s College London.
