‘This is how NHS dentistry will die’. Damning words from Shawn Charlwood, chair of the BDA’s GDPC, after the association’s report found almost half of dentists have reduced their NHS commitment since the start of the pandemic.
NHS dentists feel ‘chewed up and spat out’ the BDA told MPs recently. Speaking about the urgent NHS dentistry crisis, the association highlighted the desperate need for government support, saying NHS dentistry is at death’s door.
Dentists are calling on government to freeze NHS dental charges following a stark rise in the cost of living. Eddie Crouch, BDA chair, said: ‘With inflation at a 40-year high, families face real and growing pressures with the cost of living.’
Nearly one in five employees across the UK say they are likely to change jobs in the next 12 months. According to PWC UK, younger and highly-skilled workers are most likely to be unhappy in their jobs and seek a change.
IDH Group – the owner of Mydentist – has announced the sale of DD in a move that brings fresh investment to the UK dental market. Mydentist says it will use the proceeds of the sale to increase investment across its network.
