Tipton Training launches the only 2025 intake for its new four-day certificate in clear aligners.
Clear aligner therapy has become a core part of modern dentistry, and with patient demand rising, more general dental practitioners are looking to bring aligners into their clinical offering. However, many courses focus heavily on software and workflows, offering little on the biomechanics, occlusion, and clinical understanding that underpin successful and safe treatment.
Tipton Training’s new four-day certificate in clear aligners aims to change that. Designed specifically for GDPs, this course delivers a blend of clinical, theoretical, and hands-on experience giving clinicians the confidence and competence to plan, produce, and deliver aligner treatments in-house.
Importantly, this June will be Tipton Training’s only intake for 2025, making it a unique opportunity for dentists looking to upskill and offer aligner therapy in the year ahead.
A different approach to aligner training
What makes this course stand out is its commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety. By focusing not only on aligner workflows but also on foundational orthodontic principles, occlusal harmony, and TMJ protection, the course helps dentists avoid common pitfalls and future complications.
This approach helps delegates go beyond software simulation to truly understand the forces at play, ensuring they can plan and deliver predictable results while protecting patient health. It’s a course designed for clinicians who want to lead their cases confidently from start to finish, and not just follow a digital plan.

What does the course cover?
Delivered over four intensive days (three in-person and one online), the programme provides a step-by-step, practical education in clear aligner therapy from diagnosis to delivery. Here’s a closer look at the modules:
Module 1: introduction, occlusion principles and workflow
- Principles of tooth movement with aligners
- Case selection: mild to moderate cases
- Understanding occlusion and its relevance to aligner treatment
- TMJ assessment and the impact of aligner therapy.
Module 2: aligner biomechanics and case design
- Predictable biomechanics for tooth movement
- Different types of attachments and their functions
- Staging protocols and sequencing of movement
- Working within the limitations of clear aligners.
Module 3: aligner design and treatment planning
- Hands-on use of digital software for aligner case design
- IPR planning, attachment placement, and movement simulation
- Diagnosing and planning for common malocclusions
- Setting realistic expectations and evaluating outcomes.
Module 4: in-house aligner production
- Introduction to 3D printing technologies
- Thermoforming processes and material selection
- Workflow for producing aligners in-house
- Quality control and troubleshooting production issues.
Module 5: clinical implementation and troubleshooting
- Step-by-step clinical procedures
- Placement and adjustment of attachments
- Monitoring treatment progress and managing refinements
- Occlusal checks and ensuring long-term retention.
By the end of the course, dentists will be able to manage mild to moderate cases independently, whether producing aligners in-house or working with a lab.

Can I produce aligners in-house and what does it cost?
For many dentists, one of the biggest questions is the cost of setting up in-house aligner production. This course demystifies the entire process. From choosing the right 3D printer to understanding materials and troubleshooting common issues, the Manufacturing module covers everything you need to know.
To give a general idea:
- 3D printers can range from under £300 for entry-level LCD models, to £1,500+ for DLP printers, though the latter are not typically necessary for aligner production
- Thermoforming sheets, resins, and maintenance costs also vary, and these are covered in detail within the course.
Still wondering which printer to buy, how it works, or what resin to use? This is all addressed in depth within the course itself.
For those who prefer not to produce their own aligners, the course still equips you with the knowledge to lead, assess, and supervise the process effectively, no matter which brand or provider you choose.
Is the course right for me?
The course is ideal for general dental practitioners, whether newly qualified or experienced, who want to begin offering aligner therapy or refine their skills. It’s particularly suited to dentists who want to retain control over the entire aligner process, from design and planning through to delivery and case management.
Whether you plan to produce aligners in-house or collaborate with labs, you’ll leave the course with a stronger understanding of every step, from patient consultation to final retainer.
