Dental care professionals! With less than 24 hours to go until the CPD deadline passes, do not forget to complete your required hours.
In June, the General Dental Council (GDC) opened the annual renewal period for dental care professionals (DCPs). This process ensures that DCPs remain on the UK register and can continue to provide dental care to patients.
The regulator outlined the CPD deadline and three steps for DCPs to complete:
- Pay the annual retention fee (ARF) of £96 by today (31 July)
- Ensure you make your indemnity declaration by today (31 July). DCPs must confirm they have appropriate indemnity or insurance cover in place by the time they start practising
- Complete the required amount of CPD by 31 July and submit the CPD statement by 28 August.
The GDC says that DCPs must check they have completed the minimum number of CPD hours for their cycle, including at least 10 CPD hours within the last two years.
However, DCPs in the final year of their CPD cycle can apply for a grace period, according to the GDC. This allows an extra eight weeks to complete their CPD hours if they need more time to meet their end of cycle CPD requirements. However, this application must be submitted by today (31 July).
