‘Energy, ambition, creativity and vision’: IDS 2023 ‘carried a sense of excitement’ in Cologne this March 12-18.
The 2023 International Dental Show (IDS) lived up to its name as delegates poured in from across the globe.
More than 120,000 visitors walked the halls of the Koelnmesse convention centre in Cologne, Germany over the five days of IDS 2023. Despite the event’s deep German roots, more than 60% were international delegates.
Around 180,000 m2 of exhibition space spread across 12 halls made up the show. IDS 2023 welcomed visitors into a vast space, but a packed one. More than 1,788 companies – themselves from 60 countries – were ready to greet the hordes of international visitors.
Shaping the future
The event was a landmark occasion for its host, the Association of the German Dental Industry eV (VDDI). IDS 2023 saw the show celebrate both its 100th year and its 40th trade show.
Its tagline ‘100 years of IDS – shaping the dental future’ was fitting for an event focused on the changes sweeping dental care.
From digital workflows to AI-assisted treatment planning, dental practice powered by technology was the overriding theme of IDS 2023.
IDS 2023: dynamic, innovative and powerful
The event carried a sense of excitement at the global dental community coming back together after years of disruption.
Mark Stephen Pace, chairman of the VDDI paid tribute to the atmosphere. He said: ‘IDS 2023 was convincing all along the line and at the same time proved that it continues to reinvent and develop itself even after 100 years.
‘The dynamic innovation and power emanating from IDS are impressive. And IDS has once again confirmed that it is a world-leading trade fair. The quality of visitors was – and I say this not only as chairman of the VDDI, but also as an IDS exhibitor – sensational.
‘Together with Koelnmesse, with energy, ambition, creativity and visions, we will successfully lead IDS into the second century of the event’s history. This year’s claim, ‘100 years of IDS – shaping the dental future’ stands for the synonym for the outstanding significance of the trade fair today and in the future.’
International hub
Oliver Frese, chief operating officer of Koelnmesse was equally pleased.
He added: ‘For five days, we experienced an IDS that more than lived up to its claim as a leading international hub. This gives the global dental industry the necessary impetus for the coming months and at the same time underlines the global attraction of IDS.
‘The event’s outcome is all the more remarkable given the current challenging geopolitical environment.’
The next IDS – the 41st International Dental Show – will be held from 25 to 29 March 2025.
