Dental therapist Anna Peterson discusses social media, and how the dental profession can use it to their advantage.

Anna qualified as a dental therapist in 2017 from Teesside University.
Since qualifying she has worked in both private and NHS practices. However, for the past few years she has worked in a private specialist practice in Essex. She is a member of BSDHT and the Oral B Global Dental Hygiene Advisory and Advocacy Board.
Anna is passionate about raising the awareness of what a dental therapist is and how a dental therapist can be used within a practice. She enjoys the restorative side of her job, trying to improve her composite work on anterior and posterior restorations.
During the pandemic Anna took to social media to deliver key oral health messages to the public.
She believes communication is the cornerstone of her role and whilst communication was at first more difficult, she was able to speak to millions of people and deliver these messages through Tiktok.
Anna now has over 140k followers on Tiktok. She has seen the benefits of using social media to grow the practice she works in. She also uses it to educate her patients to improve their oral hygiene and reach members of the public to help them where they may be struggling to see a dental professional.
