90 seconds with…Farooq Ahmed

Farooq Ahmed explains why he got into dentistry in the first place and gives us his strangest experience in the profession.

More about Farooq Ahmed

Farooq works as a consultant orthodontist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Northwick Park Hospital. As well as working in a private practice in the West End and north London.

He passed his MOrth in 2015 and received the JK William’s Gold Medal with the Royal College of England.

He has 17 scientific publications including a Cochrane review and is an MFDS examiner. His clinical interests are complex case management including orthognathic and hypodontia patients, as well as the use of aligners.

Farooq has an interest in charity and he travelled to Gujrat, Pakistan to the first cleft hospital in the region. He also helped develop the cleft service to incorporate orthodontic treatment.

He is keen to promote education and has produced an orthodontic educational podcast. The podcast summarises conferences and lectures in five to 10-minute short audios and blogs www.orthoinsummary.com.
