Calls for GDC to stop overseas dentists registering as hygienists

The dental profession is calling for GDC action on the registration of overseas dentists as hygienists and therapists without any practical assessment

This week I learnt that if an overseas dentist fails the overseas registration exam, it’s not a problem! They can still register with the GDC as a hygienist and therapist without any assessments. No wonder many hygienists and therapists feel undervalued. The BADT and BSDHT says this is creating an obvious risk to patients and is calling for the GDC to make changes.
