Eastenders actress Kierston Wareing has admitted to drinking seven cans of Coca-Cola a day

Eastenders actress, Kierston Wareing, has revealed a startling sugar addiction that has caused her to lose five teeth.

The 38-year-old told The Sun that she routinely drank seven cans of Coca-Cola a day for 15 years.

The actress, who played Kirsty Branning in the BBC soap, admitted to ignoring dentists’ advice about the adverse effects of excessive sugar consumption.

‘I was on two and a half litres of full fat Coca-Cola a day’, she admitted.

‘But my teeth have been suffering, I had a warning a year ago, but I didn’t take it seriously.

‘A year later and I have had five teeth come out.

‘It’s been so painful – I’ve been waking up in agony and it is all down to Coca-Cola.

‘I had an addiction to it.’

Sugar addiction

The BAFTA-nominee’s sugar addiction became so severe, that Kirsty admitted: ‘I would wake up in the middle of the night and I would crave a can of Coke.

‘Then I would get up in the morning and the first thing I’d drink is a can of Coke.

‘I’ve brought all this on myself.’

Kierston says that she has now kicked her Coca-Cola habit, but unfortunately has replaced one crutch with another – consuming sugar laden chocolate bars in place of fizzy drinks.

coke‘The dentist thought I would be affected when I stopped drinking it, but I haven’t’, she explained.

‘They said: “What have you done differently?”

‘I have four Wispas a day now.

‘They said: “You’re not addicted to Coke, you have a sugar addiction.”‘

A Coca-Cola spokesperson told The Sun: ‘The key to good dental health is to brush your teeth regularly.

‘All food and drink that contains sugar and is acidic, including soft drinks, should be enjoyed in moderation.’

The daily newspaper estimated Kierston’s Coca-Cola consumption at 38,325 cans over a 15-year period, equal to 5,327,175 calories, or 268,275 teaspoons of sugar.
