This one-day seminar aims to provide GDPs with the clinical gateway to practicing SAFE (Stability, Assessment, Function and Esthetic) orthodontics, the best legal advice, and when to refer.

Clinical skills and knowledge are key of course, but in today’s dental environment they must be backed up with the processes to practice safely, within your competence and putting the patient first at all times.

It will be held on Friday 8th July at the ILEC Conference Centre, London.

The aim of this lecture is to teach dentists on how to use orthodontics as a tool in aesthetic and general dentistry. The emphasis will be based on using the SAFE approach in assessment and treatment planning to help achieve a predictable outcome for all aesthetic cases involving orthodontics.

‘To treat or not to treat, that is the question’

This presentation aims to fill the gap between the dento-legal and clinical and will explore a number of aspects relating to patient selection and orthodontic treatment with a particular emphasis on managing expectations. Whilst the concept of expectation management will be familiar, consideration with regard to the emerging market driven orthodontic patient raises important points worthy of discussion – in particular the impact and challenges of direct patient marketing and the claims therein. In addition an alternative view on ‘golden rules’ for when to refer will be presented.
