Five King’s College London Dental Institute students on three postgraduate MSc programmes have been selected to receive awards from a leading dental distributor Henry Schein.
Mariacristina Ruberto from Hove is the recipient of this year’s award for excellence.
Joshua Green and Takawira Mairosi are this year’s winners of the leadership awards.
Two additional awards were granted to students on the basis of financial need.
These bursaries have been awarded for three years running, underlining Henry Schein’s commitment to investing in the future of dental education.
Mariacristina’s dissertation was on survival and modality of failure of porcelain veneers from feldspathic laminate veneers to the latest generations of porcelain materials.
Joshua and Takawira Mairosi had to submit a personal statement to explain how the programme they are studying has helped them provide leadership within their field.
Professor Mark Woolford, associate dean for education at the dental institute, commented: ‘Once again it’s delightful to see our distance learning programmes receiving this tremendous support from Henry Schein.
‘It is so nice that these programmes are recognised as they require a great deal of commitment from the students and this effort is so frequently ignored in other arenas.
‘Henry Schein as a company is passionate about education to develop not just dentists, but oral healthcare workers of the future, as shown by these awards.’
