Substantial exports wins Queen’s Award
Fast-growing Prima Dental has won the award in recognition of its substantial growth in overseas trade.
Prima Dental is the long-established market specialist in carbide steel dental burs in the UK and also exports precision dental products to over 85 countries around the world.
From its state of the art production facilities in Gloucester, Prima Dental engineers over 20million micron-accurate carbon, diamond and steel dental burs a year.
Richard Muller, managing director at Prima Dental, comments: 'We are honoured to win a Queen’s Award for international trade.
'It is the UK’s most sought-after endorsement of business success, so this is a hugely significant and proud moment for Prima Dental.
'It is testament to our skilled and loyal workforce who have all played a part in our success.'
Bucking the UK downturn in export growth, Prima Dental has achieved continuous growth in overseas earnings of 129% over the last six years.
The last five years have seen a total of £8million capital investment into the business, including a £3.5million state-of-the-art factory in Gloucester to enable a significant step-up in production output.
Richard says: 'We continually invest and develop our product ranges through research and feedback from dentists, academics and distributors world-wide, resulting in constant product innovation and new launches.'
The Queen’s Award is one of the most prestigious business awards, designed to recognise and encourage the achievements by businesses in the UK.
Approximately 160 Queen’s Awards have been announced this year for outstanding business achievement in the fields of international trade, innovation and sustainable development.
As a winner of the Queen’s Award, Prima Dental can expect an invitation to attend a special reception at Buckingham Palace.
An award presentation ceremony will also shortly be conducted at Prima Dental’s production facility at Waterwells Business Park in Gloucester by the lord-lieutenant of the county, Dame Janet Trotter.
