Honorary fellowship for former Welsh CDO

He joined two Nobel Prize winners, a British politician and a writer and television presenter in receiving his Fellowship from Cardiff University at its annual degree ceremonies.

In accepting his honour, he said: ‘My Fellowship is a great honour and, on a personal note, comes exactly 30 years after an award of similar Fellowship was bestowed upon my late father for his work in establishing neurosurgery as a specialty in Wales.

‘Had he lived he would have been 100 next week and I trust he “at last” is proud of me.’

Dr Langmaid, who will be standing as a candidate in the upcoming elections for the Welsh seat (formerly held by Stuart Johnston) of the BDA’s principal executive committee (PEC), received his CBE in the Queen’s birthday honours in 2010.
