Is my data safe with Dental CPD Pro?

Recently, there have been some GDC announcements about
security concerns with eGDC and third-party websites.

I'd like to make it clear that Dental CPD Pro encrypts and protects
all of your data using the most up-to-date methods available.

The encryption means that only you can access the information
that you add to the system.

When data is transmitted, it is done so securely.

Our protective measures go further than the GDC's own website
and, in fact, most NHS systems and ALL other CPD systems.

Specifically, we use TLS together with Hashing & Salting to protect
and encrypt your data.

The TLS protocol allows client-server applications to communicate across a network in a way designed to prevent eavesdropping and tampering.

In cryptography, a salt is random data that is used as an additional input to a one-way function that hashes a password or passphrase. This allows for later authentication while defending against compromise of the plaintext password, even in the event that the database is somehow compromised.

A cryptographic hash function is a hash function; that is, an algorithm that takes an arbitrary block of data and returns a fixed-size bit string, the (cryptographic) hash value, such that any (accidental or intentional) change to the data will (with very high probability) change the hash value.

Nevertheless, if you have concerns, you may use our app and all
associated services except the eGDC-sync without divulging any
sensitive information, if you wish.

In any case, the choice to use the sync service is optional and even
without it, the CPD Pro app will bring you enormous benefits by letting
you record your activity immediately and by keeping your CPD records
secure in a single place.
