Denplan helps find clinical placements for UK dental graduates

Following the announcement that some 35 UK dental graduates have been unable to access Foundation Year 1 training places this summer, Denplan is offering to assist any graduates who are seeking to develop their clinical skills over the coming year.

While recognising that some dental schools and postgraduate deaneries have been able to make interim arrangements for dental graduates unable to access Foundation Training, Denplan works with 6,500-plus dental practitioners across the UK and will use this network of members to help graduates find clinical placements in private practices with dentists willing to nurture and develop them.

Denplan chief dental officer, Roger Matthews, said: ‘A number of Denplan practice owners have expressed an interest in taking on foundation dentists in the past so, while we cannot guarantee a placement in any individual circumstances, we will try our very best to assist.

‘We will, of course, ensure that any graduate placed with a Denplan member practice is assured the oversight, guidance and advice required to be consistent with their stage of professional development. We would therefore urge any graduate unable to find a placement, and indeed, any dental practice willing to offer one, to contact me as soon as possible.’

If you are, or are aware of any graduate who may wish to consider this offer, or a Denplan member dentist willing to assist, please contact Roger Matthews at: [email protected].
