The Dentistry Show (2-3 March 2012 really isn’t one to miss. Expecting the largest attendance ever at the NEC Birmingham, the show will provide an exceptional occasion to network with thousands of dental professionals and provide opportunities to benefit the entire practice.

Free to register, this year’s show also boasts the highest amount of free, verifiable CPD. 60 world class speakers will be holding over 90 hours of conference sessions on the latest products, technologies and legislation to assist in the smooth running of the practice. Delegates will discover a huge range of expertise and educational opportunities all in one place.

Sally Simpson, president of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) says the BSDHT will be attending for the first time this year and she is excited about ‘meeting with the wider dental profession to increase our visibility and promote the aims of the BSDHT and benefits of membership’.

The Dentistry Show is divided into five distinct areas:

  • Aesthetic Dentist
  • Dental Business
  • Hygienists and Therapists Symposium
  • Nursing Network
  • Aesthetic Technician

Each of the conferences is designed to deliver the most relevant and exciting experience for their audience. This is an amazing opportunity for dental professionals of every background to network with their peers and industry experts, as well as source the best materials, solutions, training and advice.

This year, due to high demand, the Hygienists and Therapists Symposium has been increased to include key subject matter, such as:

  • You and your anxious patients (Inhalation sedation, scope of practice and you)
  • Infection prevention & control – hand hygiene and personal protection for hygienists and therapists
  • Digital photography & radiography, building a case study.

Sally Reid, of the British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT), said: ‘The Dentistry Show will give BADT an opportunity to speak with our members, outline the benefits of employing a therapist in practice and update ourselves on new products.’

The Symposium includes areas of core CPD for hygienists and therapists such as ethical issues through to the latest thinking in patient management and treatment modalities, as well as giving you the opportunity to ask further questions on the topics.

Over 42,000 dental nurses are now registered with the GDC. As a result, the Dentistry Show has created a full, fun packed Nurses Network programme tailored to their profession. Subjects range from legal and ethical issues to medical emergencies, with talks delivered by specially selected expert speakers. In addition to this, there will be free CPD and assistance for furthering your career: the nursing network conference truly has it all. Seminars include:

Not only will dental nurses be able to attain significant hours of CPD, but also earn further qualifications that will boost their roles in the practice.

Shaenna Loughnane, UK Manager of Bridge2Aid, a charity associated with The Dentistry Show, said: ‘Due to diversity and volume of attendees, Bridge2Aid has a good opportunity to encourage a large number of professionals to volunteer and help enforce a message of corporate social responsibility.’

Bridge2Aid will also be holding a free competition in connection with the Dentistry Show to win a free trip to Tanzania on the Dental Volunteer Programme. All visitors can enter by collecting stamps from a few allocated exhibitors on a postcard, once all stamps have been collected a winner will be picked out and will win a bursary from the Dentistry Show to pay for the DVP.

The conference programme tailored for the aesthetic technician has been designed to encompass all aspects of the industry that affects their career.
