DLA chair resigns

Jim Mackie has stood down from his position as chairman of the Dental Laboratories Association (DLA) due to personal reasons, and will be replaced by Gordon Watters.

A member of the DLA ‘Four Chairs’ since 2005, Jim oversaw many of the DLA’s pioneering projects during his term, and was a key figure in the political lobbying of MPs regarding the new dental contract and the subsequent impact on dental laboratories.

He was directly involved in May’s ‘World Symposium’ at the Ricoh Centre in Coventry and most recently chaired a new DLA review group, examining how the DLA plans to develop over the next decade.

A DLA statement said: ‘The Dental Laboratories Association would like to thank Jim Mackie for his exceptional hard work and commitment. Everyone at the DLA wishes Jim their best.’

Gordon Watters takes over as chairman with immediate effect, although the official date for handing over the chairmanship will remain the 1 January 2008. For further information on the DLA call 0870 991 4525, or visit www.dla.org.uk.
