Return to practice – advancing instrument decontamination

This webinar will provide an overview of principles and key protocols in instrument decontamination and sterilisation. Best practices will be addressed in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of these protocols and requirements. In addition, sources of problems and errors in sterilisation will be discussed.

Learning outcomes:

Following completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Perform appropriate cleaning, disinfection, inspection, and sterilisation steps
Discuss the differences between sterilisation technologies and their applicability
Describe best practices with respect to safety and efficiency of instrument decontamination
List and describe factors that negatively affect sterilisation outcomes.

Speaker: Fiona Collins

Dr. Collins graduated as a general dentist from the University of Glasgow and holds an MBA and an MA from Boston University. During her career, she has lived and worked in 5 countries and has given presentations internationally. Fiona is currently the ADA’s representative to the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), a member of the ADA, OSAP, a participant in infection control-related Standards working groups in AAMI, and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
