Getting started with intraoral scanning

This webinar is aimed at dentists who are considering taking their first step into the world of digital dentistry with an intraoral scanner.

Understanding the jargon around scanners and deciphering specifications will be dealt with to help attendees scrutinise and identify the right solution, and provider, for their practice. Mark will outline the benefits and various applications of intraoral scanning. A live demonstration of the long established 3Shape Trios and relative newcomer to the market, Shining 3D Aoralscan 3 will also be presented. For those looking beyond intraoral scanning, the next steps of 3D printing and milling and associated software will be discussed too. Speaker: Mark Barry

Mark is co-founder and managing director of ESM Digital Solutions. He was an early pioneer of digital dentistry, Mark began providing a digital study model service for dentists as early as 2007 and was one of the first to realise the industry changing potential of scanning technology. With a first-class honours degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree researching ‘the strength of taper-lock dental implants, Mark is well versed in this area. He is also a frequent presenter at dental conferences and been published in both UK and international Journals. Prior to co-founding ESM Digital Solutions, Mark worked for several years as a lecturer at DIT focusing on 3D Scanning, CAD/CAM, production and quality strategies, and describes his love of teaching and mentoring as ‘food for the soul’.
