On Thursday 18 June, Cat Edney's Dentistry Live session explored how ICON resin infiltration can transform the way you approach enamel defects, giving you a predictable, minimally invasive option for managing aesthetic concerns in everyday practice.

Aesthetic dentistry doesn’t always need to be restorative

In this session, Cat walked through how to assess and manage enamel lesions using ICON, helping you understand when infiltration is appropriate, when it isn’t, and how to achieve consistent, natural-looking results.

Attendees were guided through the full clinical workflow: from diagnosis and case selection, through to etching, infiltration and finishing, with practical tips that can be applied immediately in practice.

There was also discussion around how ICON fits into a wider treatment plan, including its relationship with tooth whitening, composite and orthodontics, allowing you to build a more confident and conservative approach to aesthetic care.

Watch on demand now! If you’ve ever felt unsure about when or how to use ICON, or want to improve your outcomes, this session will give you the clarity and confidence to move forward.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this Dentistry Live session, participants will understand:

  • How ICON works and how it changes the optical properties of enamel
  • How to identify suitable cases and recognise limitations
  • How to plan treatment sequencing, including when to incorporate tooth whitening
  • How to carry out effective etching and assess lesion depth clinically
  • The importance of isolation and moisture control
  • How to optimise infiltration for more predictable aesthetic results
  • How to finish and polish for a natural appearance
  • How to integrate ICON into everyday clinical practice.
