Dentsply Sirona reveals the details of its annual charity walk, Miles for Smiles, encouraging people to take part and support vulnerable communities.
In a world where access to essential healthcare services remains a challenge for many, initiatives like Miles for Smiles stand out as beacons of hope. Organised by Dentsply Sirona UK & Ireland, this annual charity walk aims to support Dentaid The Dental Charity in their mission to provide free dental care to the most vulnerable communities.
As the fourth instalment of this inspiring event approaches, participants are gearing up to walk approximately 13 miles to raise funds and awareness for this vital cause.
A journey through scenic surrey
The main route for Miles for Smiles 2025 will begin at Dentsply Sirona’s office in Weybridge, Surrey. Participants will embark on a picturesque walk through the beautiful riverside paths and countryside of Surrey, offering a perfect blend of nature and camaraderie.
After completing the rewarding walk, everyone will reconvene at the office for a celebratory drink, food and more fun. A live raffle will occur at the end of the day, where incredible prizes can be won. You automatically receive an entry into the raffle when registering and you can also purchase more for a better chance to win.
For those unable to attend in Surrey, alternative walks will be held in Glasgow and Bingley, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to this brilliant cause.
Supporting Dentaid The Dental Charity’s mission
Dentaid The Dental Charity has been a cornerstone in providing free dental care to homeless and vulnerable people. Their mobile dental units travel across the UK, offering treatments to those who otherwise would not have access to dental services.
In 2024 alone, Dentaid provided 27,108 treatments to adults and children, including cancer patients, veterans, homeless communities and victims of domestic violence. Additionally, their BrightBites programme distributed over 54,000 free toothbrushes and care kits to children, educating them on the importance of oral hygiene.
The funds raised through Miles for Smiles will directly support Dentaid’s efforts, helping them continue their invaluable work. Every penny of the £35 joining fee and prize draw donations will go to Dentaid, ensuring that the charity can reach even more people in need.
How to get involved
There are two primary ways to support Miles for Smiles 2025:
- Register to walk: individuals and dental practice teams can sign up to participate in the group walk. Each walker will receive a souvenir participation t-shirt and a single entry into a prize draw with a grand prize of a Brooklands Hotel Afternoon Tea for two. The £35 joining fee will go directly to Dentaid, making every step count towards a healthier smile for those in need
- Enter the prize draw: for those who cannot join the walk, there is still an opportunity to contribute. Every £10 donation will provide five entries into the prize draw, offering a chance to win fantastic prizes. This option allows supporters to make a difference even from afar. Great prizes are up for grabs such as… an afternoon tea for two at the Brooklands Hotel, a £30 M&S gift voucher plus more!
