Introduction to occlusion for early career dentists

Early career dentists are invited to a one-day symposium where they can gain knowledge on occlusion and improve their confidence in the area of restorative dentistry.

Having a solid understanding of the principles of occlusion is crucial for the provision of successful, long-term restorative treatments for tooth wear and other conditions.

This one-day symposium, hosted by the The Tom Bereznicki Charitable Educational Foundation and the College of General Dentistry, will take place on Saturday 5 April 2025 from 9am to 5pm, at a price of £75 per delegate.

Aimed at early career dentists on the fundamentals of occlusion, it aims to enhance knowledge in this field and introduce delegates to a range of development options to extend their knowledge further.

The symposium is open to dentists who qualified in the UK or overseas between 2019 to 2023 and have been practising in the UK for at least the past two years.

Practical education

Dr Tom Bereznicki said he hopes the symposium will offer young dentists the chance to learn more on occlusion, adding that it is a crucial but underserved teaching topic.

Setting up his charity, The Tom Bereznicki Charitable Educational Foundation, in 2023, he said he wants to give younger dentists the chance to elevate their learning without eye-watering costs.

‘The aims of the charity are to promote education among young dentists from graduation through to fifth year postgraduate,’ he said.

‘The education I’m trying to provide is practical, with the goal to provide clinicians with knowledge they need to know but don’t have yet. We hope to fill some educational gaps.’

He also thanked GC and Dentsply for their support and lending use of their facilities for the two clinical skills competitions the foundation is also running with the College of General Dentistry.

Who is eligible to attend?

The symposium is open to dentists who qualified in the UK or overseas between 2019 to 2023, and have been practising in the UK for at least the past two years.
