Southern Cross Dental Lab (SCD) leads the way in providing high quality dental products and services to dental industry professionals.
Established in 2003, SCD has grown to become one of the largest dental laboratories in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It has locations in Leeds, Dundalk and Dungannon.
SCD’s history of serving the British and Irish dental profession means it has the experience to understand what dentists need to manage their practice today, and for the future. It continues to innovate and evolve in order to meet its commitment to providing reliable, quality and fairly priced products to keep your patients smiling.
SCD follows developments within the dental industry closely and maintains close contacts with universities and dental clinics worldwide. This facilitates provision of conventional state-of-the-art dental technology alongside digital workflows. SCD’s founder
David graduated BDS(Edin) from the faculty of medicine at the University of Edinburgh with distinction in conservative and prosthetic dentistry in 1985.
In 1993 he was awarded his diploma in general dental practice DGDP(UK) by the Royal College of Surgeons in London. In 2003, after four years of study through King’s College Dental Institute, he gained his master’s in clinical dentistry in fixed and removable prosthodontics (MClinDent).
His practice in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland was established in 1988. As clinical director of David Reaney Associates, David continues to guide the development of the practice. His clinical work is now mainly limited to prosthodontic and implant dentistry.
Previously David was a part time lecturer at the School of Dentistry in Belfast and continues to provide lectures and seminars to postgraduate dentists on prosthodontics and implant dentistry.
He acts as an expert witness in dentolegal cases taking instructions from lawyers in Ireland and the UK. He also acts as clinical advisor and expert to the General Dental Council (London).
‘A bright future’
David established SCD back in 2003 with the aim to provide high quality custom made dental laboratory products to dentists in Ireland.
The business grew rapidly as a result of high local demand for crown and bridge work. It offered excellence in the technical aspect of the work, was consistent in quality using high grade materials and delivered on time.
When first established, the technical work was provided in what is now termed ‘conventional workflows’. The company has embraced the challenges of converting to digital workflows with exceptional outcomes where SCD can delivered very high-quality, cost-effective products with improved turnaround times.
David has led the company as CEO for over 20 years and sees a bright future. SCD continues to scale up digital workflows, develop through research and development, and collaborate with industry leaders in the dental technology arena.
