Leanne Levick, laboratory manager at Dencraft, discusses how it felt to win Best Aesthetic Laboratory and her advice for maintaining a successful lab.

Please introduce yourself and your laboratory

I’m Leanne, the laboratory manager for both Dencraft Sheffield and Leicester. Dencraft Sheffield and Leicester are a close-knit team across two sites. Dencraft is a multidisciplinary dental laboratory and has been established just short of 30 years – we look forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary this coming year.

Why did you enter the awards?

We had seen the advertising to enter the awards and it was decided within team to go for it as it’s been many years since we entered any dental awards. We thought, why not? Let’s do it! The team take so much pride in their work, and we felt it would be a good start for the 30-year celebrations.

How did it feel to win Best Aesthetic Laboratory?

It felt amazing and we were so proud to show the achievements of the team’s hard work, dedication and passion.

What does the award mean to your team?

We spoke to the team and asked what the award means to them. Conclusively, the feedback was that they felt proud due to the fact the award recognises the hard work and dedication of the team. Those who are training with us believe Dencraft is one of the best teams to learn from due to its high skills, precise work, quality care – and the fact that each case is treated individually.

Why would you recommend other labs enter the awards?

To be nominated was an achievement, but to win was a bonus. Winning the award has boosted the team’s morale with enthusiasm, optimism, and excitement to continually strive forward.

What are your top tips for maintaining a successful laboratory?

Listen, encourage and empower the team.

What is next for Dencraft? Do you have any plans for the future?

To continue what we are doing due to the team’s success and embrace the advancement of new technologies in the industry.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We had a great night at the 2023 Clinical Dentistry Awards, and it was a rare occasion for the team that attended the awards to prise themselves away from their benches and put their dancing shoes on!
