Completing a second successful move away from the NHS

It’s second time around for practice manager Kate Cummings – learn how she was able to become a fully private practice with the right support.

Having converted from NHS to private with her first practice in 2009, she and her husband retained a small NHS contract when they bought their second while they ‘bided their time’ as she puts it, until the moment was right to hand back the contract.

Having reviewed the dental landscape, they feel that time is now. And so, with light at the end of the tunnel, she and her team are looking forward to saying goodbye to the time-consuming and excessive admin burden of an NHS contract and being able to spend more time with their patients.

Free from the constraints of UDA targets, the team is eager to have the opportunity to provide good quality private dentistry for a base of patients they have been able to get to know well.

Second to none

Despite having been there, done that once before, Kate is grateful for the support she and her colleagues have received from their regional support manager Josie Hutchings and the wider team at Practice Plan, as they prepare to spread their wings in a fully private practice.

She believes the planning and in-practice training they’ve received will stand them in good stead when they strike out on their own.

Having been a Practice Plan customer since 2009, Kate is pleased that employees at both practices will now be able to take advantage of the support available.

From the training delivered by Josie to the regional events, workshop tour and practice manager groups, she feels the support practices receive from Practice Plan is second to none.

And with a healthy number of patients taking up plan membership, she’s optimistic about their prospects of completing a second successful move away from the NHS.
