AI in dentistry – a unique patient education tool

AI in dentistry – a unique patient education tool

Robiha Nazir explains why artificial intelligence (AI) is a modest investment compared to what it brings to you, your team and your patients.

My AI journey started when I was introduced to Pearl.

I’d been looking to come out of a clinical setting for some time and this came as the perfect opportunity.

I’m very passionate and intrigued with all things dental technology so it only seemed right when AI came into the dental arena to be one of the first to join.

AI has really helped to transform the way I view X-rays. The tooth parts tool is one of the unique patient education features we have. I’m finding myself spending more time looking at X-rays because I’m obsessed.

Our product, Second Opinion, is a phenomenal tool to have access to. When we need a second pair of eyes, Second Opinion provides that at chairside.

‘Enhancing dentistry’

It’s also really great for patient engagement. I know as a patient I sometimes think I’ll look things up later rather than ask a question.

Second Opinion’s tooth parts highlights parts of the tooth, segmenting it and making it clear for patients to understand more of what’s being shown.

For those that are hesitant to embrace AI, it is already a big part of your everyday life. It is not taking away any part of your role. If anything, it’s helping to enhance things for you and your patients.

The patient education features alone lead to a 38% increase in case acceptance. The investment is small for what AI will bring to you, your team and your patients.

With the newest technology in the industry, you’ll gain the respect of their current patients and attract new clientele.

My biggest influences in AI are my youngest brother who is a tech nerd. My dental friend, Aalok Shukla, helps to keep me up to date with the AI outside of dentistry.

Adrian Dray who has introduced me to ChatGPT and our very own Pearl team, Dr Kyle Stanley, John Schwartz, Jack Lovett, Cambron Carter and Kat Fisher, just to name a few of the people that make working for Pearl a dream.
