After the Dil Se Ball was a huge success, Jaswinder Gill discusses the story behind the event, what the evening entailed, and the charity it supported.
What is the story behind the Bollywood Dentist group?
The Bollywood Dentist Facebook group was created by Jas Gill one evening during the first lockdown. His intentions were to bring a dentist community together who had a mutual interest for the love of Bollywood.
Very quickly over a 1000 members had joined!
During lockdown the group connected through Facebook, Zoom calls, sing-a-longs and lots of laughter and entertainment was created to raise everyone’s spirits during the pandemic.
Lockdown finished and the Facebook group did not fade away – it went from strength to strength with regular posts, discussions and lots of fun and laughter.
As time went by a committee was assembled. The dedication and hard work of the entire Bollywood Dentist committee (Jas Gill, Moonis Iqbal, Chetan Sharma, Adjay Southi, Shameek Popat, Shilpa Murthy, Pooja Singh and Shaz Memon), brought the Bollywood Dentist Ball to life.
The Ball has just completed its third year, raising significant funds for Wells on Wheels Charity.
Tell us about last month’s Dil Se Ball. What did the evening entail?
This year’s event, held on Saturday 25 February at the National Motorcycle Museum Birmingham, was no exception. It welcomed over 270 guests ready to party.
It was a truly remarkable evening. However, it was the unwavering commitment of Chetan Sharma and Adjay Southi that took the Bollywood Dentist ‘Dil Se’ Ball to a whole new level of excellence.
These two individuals put in tireless efforts, working around the clock and burning the midnight oil to ensure that every detail was planned to perfection and ensuring the event was a massive success.
Attendees were left mesmerised by live performances from world-renowned singer Navin Kundra and the sensational Afrodesi dancers. And to keep the party going, international DJs Cloud 9 played the best of Bhangra, Bollywood, and R&B music that had everyone dancing the night away.
Guests were treated to a delicious four-course meal prepared by award-winning caterers, and the free bar with unlimited alcohol kept the good times flowing all night.
The vibrant beats of live dhol drums added to the energetic atmosphere, making it one of the best dental party events that anyone had ever been to.
The Bollywood Dentist ‘Dil Se’ Ball has set a new standard, and everyone is already looking forward to next year’s event.
People came from all walks of life – not just dentists – to celebrate Bollywood and give back to the community.
What is the cause behind the event and why is it so important?
The event was not just about having fun. The Bollywood Dentist group donates all its proceedings to the Wells on Wheels charity founded by Shaz Memon.
The charity distributes water drums on wheels to rural communities in India, enabling young girls to attend school instead of carrying heavy buckets of water on their heads.
Thanks to the generosity and support of our attendees, we are thrilled to announce that we have raised thousands of pounds for Wells on Wheels charity through this year’s ball.
Through your support, the group hopes to distribute more water drums, allowing even more girls to have an education.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
The group is incredibly grateful to our sponsors, who played a vital role in making the Ball a huge success. Our heartfelt thanks go to Smilefast, Dental Compliance Made Easier, Advanced Dental Laboratories, Blueprint Dental, and Mismile, for their kind support and contributions.
The Bollywood Dentist Charity Ball will continue to grow, and the group wants everyone to celebrate their love for Bollywood through its events and activities while supporting charity.
So, come out and enjoy a night of music, dance, and culture, all for a good cause. See you all there next year!
