The North of England Dentistry Show is FMC’s biggest dental exhibition.

This year it’s taking place at Manchester Central Convention Complex on Saturday 11 March 2023 – and it’s expected to be bigger and better than ever.

With over 85 speakers across 12 different lecture theatres, it’s expected to have the highest attendance so far. And best of all, it’s completely free to attend!

What’s on at the Clinical Dentistry Theatre?

The Clinical Dentistry Theatre will bring an array of lectures focusing on everyday clinical cases you can expect to come across in practice. Hone your skills, learn new techniques and listen to leading clinicians as they share their tips.

There is also hours of CPD on offer with every lecture CPD-certified!

Bill Seddon – Rubber dam revisited: a simplified approach

(Thirty minutes of CPD awarded)

Bill works in practice limited to endodontics in Sheffield and Nottingham. He has taught in over 10 different countries and recently presented on rubber dam to the International Academy of Endodontics in Scottsdale Arizona.

Attendees of Bill’s lecture will gain an understanding of:

  • Gauges of dam
  • Hole punching where and why
  • Spacing of holes
  • Clamp selection
  • Inverting dam, how, and what additional aids are needed.

Sharon Showker – An orthodontic-restorative approach to smile makeovers

(One hour of CPD awarded)

Sharon graduated from Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2012.

Her care focuses on full-mouth comprehensive treatments which involves restorative aesthetic treatments including providing Invisalign and implants.

Sharon’s lecture will provide an overview of the management of cases using a combination of orthodontic and restorative dentistry when faced with patients looking to improve the aesthetics of their smile.

Her lecture will highlight the importance of correct tooth positions in the success of a smile makeover from an aesthetic and functional point of view.   

Rob Endicott – Reaching out to people: using sedation to improve your practice – sponsored by UK Sedation

Rob’s lecture will explain how offering anxiety relief on existing patients can create a buzz and raise awareness of what patients may be feeling.

By the end of his lecture, attendees should be able to understand:

His lecture aims to discuss current concepts in minimally invasive dentistry with a focus on improving aesthetics for patients.

Robert is chair of Dental Physical Sciences and the inventor of fluorine containing bioactive glasses.

This talk will discuss the composition of bioactive glasses. It will explore how they degrade in bodily fluids including saliva and how they form the tooth mineral apatite.

The benefits of incorporating fluorine into the glass for dental applications will be explained including fluoride release and formation of fluorapatite.

The role of phosphate in the glass will be explaine, as well as the importance of the glass in raising the pH of oral fluids and its preventative effect with regard to caries.

Rizwaan Chaudhary – BACD: Past, Present & Future – sponsored by BACD

Rizwaan is a dual qualified dentist. His first degree was in dental technology at Manchester University. Following this, Rizwaan graduated in dental surgery from the University of Leeds.
