An inquest has been opened into the death of Nicola Bulley after her body was found in a river on Sunday.

The mother of two disappeared during a dog walk in St Michael’s on Wyre on 27 January, prompting a major search operation.

It has now been confirmed that Ms Bulley was identified using her dental records, Preston Coroner’s Court has heard.

Coroner Dr James Adeley said he had contacted surgeon Andrew Edwards, the BBC reports. He requested that he compare dental records obtained by police from the Great Eccleston dental surgery.

He said that the surgeon had examined her body and found that the restorative work carried out was identical.

The remaining police evidence and the post-mortem examination requires ‘further evaluation’. A full inquest was likely to be held in June, Dr Adeley added.
