Dr Asif Chatoo explains what he looks for when searching for a new dental chair and why trust and integrity are crucial in the buying process.
When there is a plethora of companies advertising dental equipment, it is not easy to know where to go and who to trust. Years ago, I had a problem with a dental chair compressor in a former practice.
Someone mentioned Pete Higson from RPA Dental might be able to offer some advice, and although I was not a client of his, he immediately came and helped me out.

When it was time for me to look for a new dental chair, Covid-19 made it impossible to order any chairs from companies I had used in the past, and as I had built a good rapport with Pete, I felt comfortable asking for his advice. That is how I was introduced to the Stern Weber brand.

Practically seamless
Having looked at the complete Stern Weber range, and minutely reviewing my needs with RPA, I selected the S200 Model with continental style delivery, the unit was then manufactured to my exact and exacting specification down to exactly how the dynamic instrumentation is arranged across the dentist module.
I have found it to be a fantastic chair and price-wise, it sits very well. The chair’s functionality for my orthodontic work is particularly notable and is very well specified.
The arrangement of instrumentation was also easily replicated for the way I was previously set up so that the transition to working with the new chair was practically seamless.
There is also an impressive range of motions the chair can perform that allows me to work comfortably when providing treatment for my patients.
Comfort is a very important criterion, and the Stern Weber does not disappoint at all. Both me and my patients have an ideal position for what I need to achieve, and the fact I often get very positive feedback about their comfort from patients reassures me that I made the right choice.
So reliable
The engineering team went through the instructions on how to use the chair extremely thoroughly and really made it very easy to understand, so the transition was very straight-forward and unchallenging.
The maintenance is also plain sailing as the engineers can access the operating system remotely to assess any errors and rectify them without the need for a call out in many instances, not that we have experienced any to date.
What I appreciate with RPA Dental is that you really have a sense of service from the top down. They get to know you as a person and they don’t make you feel as if it is all about selling.
When they give you options, you really feel they care and put forward what is right for you.
Invaluable support
It is a wonderful company to work with. Pete Higson is so reliable and always gives you his focused attention, his team are all committed to make sure you have everything you need and nothing is too much of a problem.
I have only had my Stern Weber chair for the last nine months. So it is unlikely that I will encounter any issues in the near future. But I feel reassured that if I had any worries, there would be someone on hand without any need for me to fret, or lose valuable working time.
Pete has already shown what an invaluable source of support and how caring he is when I was not even an RPA customer. As a client I feel completely assured. It is old fashioned values such as these, which I appreciate most.
