Runeel Joye explains how he and his team now enjoy a less pressured way of working after moving from NHS to private practice.

Dentist, Runeel Joye, made the move away from the NHS in September 2021. In this video, he shares his experience of converting from NHS to private dentistry. He also outlines how he ensured his team was committed to the change, too.
The picture Runeel paints of how his team was feeling before the change, will be familiar to lots of people. Especially those working under NHS contracts. Long, busy days with team members feeling stressed, overworked and extremely time poor.
He talks about their frustration at not being able to spend enough time with patients to provide the level of care they would like. He also stresses that these pressures were felt throughout the practice, and not just by staff involved in clinical work.
Less pressured
Team meetings, one-to-one sessions, and getting financial advice regarding pensions and other benefits, allayed any misgivings team members may have had. This meant everyone was primed and ready to explain the change to patients and handle any questions or objections.
His staff had already been given a taste of what life could be like in a private practice as, post-Covid, Runeel was seeing private patients only. His associates took on the NHS work. They had enjoyed the experience. So, when it came to the real thing, the whole team looked forward to a less pressured way of working.
Runeel now presides over a team that is happier, more fulfilled, and better rewarded than before. This makes him happy, too.
