This began with large investments in 3D printing software and machinery. All as more dentists began to introduce intraoral scanners into their practices.
Now, a few short years later, the Sheffield-based laboratory houses its own dedicated digital department. It includes a team of qualified dental technicians. As well as a newly refurbished print room for its 13 3D printers.
No charge for printed models
In support of dentists looking to make the digital leap, S4S doesn’t charge for model printing with cases submitted digitally.
All scans received are also archived on its cloud-based system should they ever need recalling for replacement appliances.
With digital scans now making up over 50% of all cases received by the laboratory, S4S is therefore proud to reduce its carbon footprint in relation to gypsum. And it is looking forward to seeing this percentage increase in the coming years.
Who is S4S Dental?
An award-winning dental laboratory with over 90 members of staff, S4S specialise in the production of splints, such as Sleepwell for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea, and sleep clench inhibitor (SCi) for bruxism treatment.
It is also the manufacturers of Smilelign clear aligners. As well as Duratin retainers, Protex mouthguards and traditional orthodontic appliances.
