Dental handpiece experts at your service

dental handpieceWhen in business, the personal touch really matters. With this in mind, Ken O’Brien considers the added-value benefits a family-run enterprise like handpiece repair company Quintess Denta can deliver to dental practices UK-wide.

‘Buy local’ is a common refrain, especially in these challenging times. I think that extends beyond buying your fruit and veg. It is an ethos we need to embrace in the dental world, too.

My experience is that big companies are not unlike faceless machines that do the job to a certain extent. But the truth is a personal service is invaluable.

At Quintess Denta, we think that alongside supplying excellent products, our clients deserve a quick, reliable and efficient service delivered with a personal touch. We have seen for ourselves that is what’s needed for happy customers who come back time and again.

Consequently we are more than a repair or sales company; we are an integral part of your practice.

Our story

Quintess Denta is an innovative addition to the dental market in the UK and Ireland.

A family-run company with decades of experience, expertise and excellence in handpiece repair and maintenance, we guarantee high-quality services, innovative products, professional attention to detail and also competitive prices.

At the helm is practising dentist, James Hamill. Together with myself, area sales manager Ian Creighton, and a fabulous team of technicians, we’re committed to partnering with dental practices to deliver the best possible service.

Our restoration centre covers repairs to most popular handpiece brands. With expertise in fixing electric and air turbines as well as scalers. Our technicians replace bearings, gears, O-rings and seals, and also have a reputation for being able to repair even the most demanding of devices to the highest standard.

What you can expect from us

Having set ourselves high standards, we always work hard to maintain them, so you can expect:

  • Full consultations
  • Prompt turnaround on all repairs
  • High-quality parts
  • Complete testing, including concentricity
  • Excellent warranties
  • Attractive price options
  • Ongoing maintenance and support.

That’s not all, however; we are always available to discuss ways that will help you with the day-to-day upkeep of your equipment, such as:

  • Maintenance for high-speeds, low-speeds, swivels, scalers, fibre-optics and attachments
  • Review of different types of lubricants and cleaners
  • Check air pressure for each handpiece
  • Review of different types of autoclaves and related procedures.

Just good, professional honesty

Quintess Denta’s mission is to offer an honest and stress-free approach to the sale, repair and maintenance of dental handpieces. We therefore strive to exceed expectations at all times for every one of our clients.

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what a couple of our clients have to say about us:

‘I have been with Quintess for a while now, for handpiece repairs, coupling repairs, etc and the purchase of new handpieces, and have always found them a pleasure to deal with. They are efficient, knowledgeable, informative, helpful and reliable in their dealings. They will not delay, and even provide spare handpieces, if necessary. We are very pleased with the service they provide.’ – Dr Leila Kingston, Ballincollig Dental.

Over the past number of years we have struggled with handpiece repairs. Lack of knowledge and expensive repairs led to an increase in repair bills. We then started using Quintess Denta for all our repairs. Since then we have had access to their in-depth knowledge via an in-house CPD session. This has educated my staff on the care and maintenance of handpieces in a way that is now resulting in fewer repairs. We as a team would not hesitate in recommending Quintess Denta for the repair and supply of dental handpieces. It has been a pleasure being associated with the company.’ – Delia McCartan, Xquisite Dental.

Your handpiece maintenance guide in six easy steps

1. Preparation

Remove the handpiece from the coupling and detach the bur from the chuck.

2. Cleaning

Clean the external surfaces of the handpiece with a clean, damp cloth, ensuring you remove all debris. Dispose of the cloth after use. Wear heavy duty gloves. Then inspect the handpiece carefully to ensure removal of all surface debris.

3. Disinfection

Handpieces that have the washer disinfector symbol are washer disinfector ready. Therefore you can wash and disinfect using one of these machines. Refer to manufacturer’s instructions for suitability of detergents.

4. Lubrication

Manual – ensure spray can is shaken vigorously and the appropriate nozzle attached. Insert nozzle fully into handpiece, place can on a level surface and spray into a paper towel until clean.

Automatic – apply appropriate adaptor, insert handpiece, refer to manufacturer’s instructions on operation.

5. Sterilisation

Vacuum autoclave – place handpieces in sterilisation pouch and seal. Follow manufacturer’s instructions before proceeding.

N-type (non-vacuum) follow manufacturer’s instructions before proceeding.

6. Storage

Immediately remove handpieces from autoclave. Store in a dust-free, sterile environment or bring to treatment room for use. Store non-bagged handpieces upright in a sterile environment. You must then use them on the day of sterilisation or reprocessed.
