Is UVC the answer to reducing fallow time?

UVC reducing fallow timeUVDS introduces its UVC unit that could reduce fallow time in some dental surgeries from 60 minutes to just 60 seconds.

Aerosol generating procedures (AGPs) present a real threat to staff and patient wellbeing. However, the fallow time allowance presents a different threat – a very real commercial one.

UVGI (ultra violet germicidal irradiation) is the only credible solution to both of the above. UVC can irradiate your surgery and return it to revenue generation in just seconds. You will no doubt have heard of this technology by now. There are hundreds of one-man bands selling this technology on the internet with little or no knowledge of these highly effective but also potential wounding products.

If you are considering UVGI for your surgery, then you need to consider a number of factors. These include, but are not limited to:

  • The physical size of your surgery
  • Ceiling height
  • Ventilation
  • Distance from source
  • Number and types of windows and doors
  • Construction materials inside the surgery
  • Risk assessments
  • Staff training as well as other elements too.

The expert in UVC systems

UVDS (Ultraviolet Dental Solutions) is an expert in UV systems. Its engineers have been designing UV components for over 20 years. It has safe (by design) products, which are CE certified and manufactured specifically for the dental industry. Before supplying any equipment, the team at UVDS ensures they have covered all of the above and doesn’t leave you or your staff exposed.

UVC is safe, if used correctly. It needs respect as a radiation source and to be integrated accordingly.

UVDS technology is only available to dentists. Your unique experience with X-ray machines and UV curing devices (UV-A 400nm) also makes the dental profession ideally suited to take immediate advantage of the benefits of UVGI.

UVDS products have built-in safety timers, remote controls, motion detectors and other enhancements (like thermal overload). All designed to keep you and your staff as safe as possible.

Most importantly, UVDS products work.

The UVDS 0001M unit (image below) is the most powerful UV mobile irrigation source available in the UK. Patented electrodeless microwave-powered tubes emit a massive 1,700mj/cm of UVC energy with only 5mj/cm2 needed to inactivate SARS-Cov-2. This unit ensures the whole of the dental studio is irradiated as quickly as possible (a 5m x 4m X 2.5m takes just 60 seconds). UVDS engineers have the calibrated test and measurement equipment to prove it too.
