This year’s Implant Dentistry Show presents a wide and impressive range of speakers, topics and exhibitors.
The Implant Dentistry Show will return to central London in February, following the huge success of last year’s inaugural event.
Bringing together the profession and industry, the Implant Dentistry Show 2020 will showcase the latest thoughts, techniques and tools in the field. It therefore aims to help educate, inspire and reenergise clinicians.
The free-to-attend day will also feature an exhibition and short lecture programme packed with leading clinicians ready to share their wisdom. Attendees will be able to gain insight on everything implant-related. Including maintenance and practical tips, managing complications and demystifying dental digital workflows.
The focus is on quick-fire sessions, therefore packing the day with hints and tips that can slot into practice.
Skills on show at the Implant Dentistry Show
The lecture timetable brings some of the most experienced implant authorities to the stage.
Implant Dentistry Today’s Eddie Scher, specialist in oral surgery and prosthodontics, will address complications. He will suggest how to cope when things go wrong.
Specialist in oral surgeon and esteemed academic Professor Cemal Ucer will explain applications of digital dentistry in oral surgery and implant dentistry.
Dr Anthony Bendkowski will bring his 30 years’ experience in the surgical and restorative management of implant cases. His presentation is titled ‘No screw, no glue – the conometric connection concept’.
During his afternoon session, Dr Nigel Saynor will offer his thoughts on the cause, effect, impact and management of implant failure.
Dr Andrew Dawood, a specialist in periodontics and prosthodontics renowned as a technological visionary, will offer simple solutions to complex implant problems. This has been designed to offer engaging, but practical content. Content that implant dentists of all levels of experience will find interesting and valuable.
Implant and aesthetic dentist Marcus Gambroudes will explain the diversity of the Bredent Sky implant range for rehabilitation of the edentulous patient.
Specialist in oral surgery and prosthodontics Dr Ashok Sethi will focus on ‘Occlusion essentials in implant dentistry’. He will assess planning and functional assessment tools. Particular emphasis given to differentiating between confirmative and reorganised occlusion.
Renowned dental technician Sergio Polisi will present 3D virtual patient reproduction and the recreation of aesthetics. Using real patient cases, he will describe how the treatment team can improve patient satisfaction through workflows that enable a reduction of chairside appointments. And he will touch on the realistic preview of the final prostheses for 100% individual restorations.
Who’s who?
Dr Anthony Bendkowski BDS FDSRCS LDSRCS MFGDP DipDSed DPDS MSurg Dent MDTFed, dental surgeon
Anthony is a specialist in oral surgery in practice limited to implant reconstructive surgery in London and south-east England. He has 30 years’ experience in the surgical and restorative management of implant cases. He is also a past president of the Association of Dental Implantology (UK) and an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh diploma in implant dentistry.
Dr Andrew Dawood, implant surgeon
Andrew devotes his time to dental implant surgery, research and development for specialist implant manufacture and digital dentistry. He has honorary attachments to University College Hospital London and The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, working with implant rehabilitation of patients who have undergone extensive resection or trauma.
He also lectures regularly on surgical and prosthodontic aspects of implant dentistry, is well published in the scientific literature and has a number of significant innovations to his name. Andrew takes great pleasure in mentoring his colleagues in all aspects on implant dentistry with a view to enabling them to have confidence in their implant practice.
Professor Eddie Scher BDS LDS RCS MFGDP, dental surgeon and specialist in oral surgery and prosthodontics
A graduate of University College Hospital, Eddie is a specialist in oral surgery and prosthodontics. He is a visiting professor of implantology at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA, and was honorary lecturer at the Eastman Dental Institute in London.
Eddie’s practice, the Walpole Street Practice Dental Surgery in Chelsea, has been placing implants for more than 25 years. The practice runs the Implant Certificate Course – a 12-day course held over six months.
Eddie is also editor-in-chief of Implant Dentistry Today. He is also a founder member of, and past chairman and scientific adviser for, the Association of Dental Implantology, mentoring his colleagues in all aspects on implant dentistry with a view to enabling them to have confidence in their implant practice.
Marcus Gambroudes, implant surgeon
Marcus qualified from Birmingham University in 2000 and was among a very select few to obtain a clinical distinction. During his studies as a dentist he developed a keen interest in dental implants and cosmetic dentistry. For more than 10 years since qualifying he has followed his passion, advancing his skills to a very high level.
He has placed and restored more than 4,000 dental implants to date. Now he regularly teaches other dental professionals on the topic of implant and aesthetic dentistry. He also won a national Aesthetic Dentistry Award in recognition of the life changing dentistry he carries out.
Professor Cemal Ucer BDS MSc PhD FDTFEd, implant surgeon
Cemal is a specialist in oral surgery. His clinical research interests include immediate implant placement, reconstructive bone surgery, nerve damage and the effect of bone density in the success of implant treatment.
Academically, he has gained European recognition for his work on the development of a new framework for teaching and assessment of clinical competence in implant dentistry. Cemal is also a fellow of the Dental Trainers Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and a fellow of the International Team for Implantology.
Dr Nigel Saynor DS MSc implantology, dental surgeon
Nigel is a past-president of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, a member of the American Academy of Osteointegration and the Association of Dental Implantology, and previous chairman and secretary of the British Dental Association Stockport branch.
Sergio Polisi, dental technician
Sergio attended IISS Ernesto Ascione in Italy between 2005 and 2010. After leaving the school, he became a dental technician supervisor at Protesika Dental Laboratory in Palermo, Italy.
He moved to the UK in 2015 to become a dental technician at Ceramiart Dental Laboratory in London before joining Luke Barnett Dental Laboratory in Watford in 2016.
In 2018, he joined Steger Dental Laboratory in Brunico, Italy. Here he became involved with Zirkonzahn in its research and development; as well as a dental technician, course instructor and lecturer representing the company at many international conferences.
Dr Ashok Sethi BDS DGDP(UK) MGDSRCS(Eng) DUI(Lille) FFGDP(UK), specialist in oral surgery and prosthodontics
Ashok has pioneered the art and science of surgical and restorative implant dentistry since 1979. His practice is totally dedicated to implants. It achieves outstanding success rates in terms of predictability, as well as aesthetic and functional outcome.
He conceived and taught the diploma in implant dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is also the director of the Practical Implant Dentistry Academy, providing postgraduate education and training in practical implant dentistry. Ashok is a founding member and past-president of the Association of Dental Implantology. He has been elected as an honorary life member.
Ashok has written a book, Practical Implant Dentistry, jointly with Thomas Kaus. This has consequently been translated into 10 different languages and has a second edition: Practical Implant Dentistry – the Science and Art.
